What Is Pre-Shipment Inspection?

Pre-Shipment Inspection, commonly known as PSI, is a vehicle verification process carried out before loading and shipment.

It is designed to help buyers identify possible condition differences, configuration issues, visible damage and documentation gaps before the vehicle leaves China. A documented inspection report can also help buyers communicate more clearly with suppliers, logistics providers and local partners.

The final inspection scope depends on the selected inspection package and the agreed checklist.

When Is the Inspection Conducted?

The inspection is usually arranged after the vehicle has been selected and before loading or shipment.

The inspection date may depend on:

  • Vehicle availability
  • Vehicle location
  • Shipment schedule
  • Inspection requirements
  • Destination port
  • Buyer’s requested report format
  • New or used vehicle status

For used vehicles, inspection timing should be coordinated before final loading. For new vehicles, the inspection may focus on configuration, appearance, identification details, documents and pre-shipment condition.

What Does Our Vehicle Inspection Cover?

Exterior, Bodywork and Paint Inspection

The exterior inspection may cover:

  • Body panels and panel gaps
  • Paint condition
  • Signs of repainting or repair
  • Windshield and other glass
  • Headlights and exterior lights
  • Doors, locks and windows
  • Wheels and tires
  • Visible scratches, dents or damage

Photos can be taken to record the visible condition of the vehicle at the time of inspection.

Engine, Transmission and Chassis Inspection

For gasoline and hybrid vehicles, the inspection may include:

  • Engine starting condition
  • Transmission operation
  • Fluid leakage
  • Suspension components
  • Steering system
  • Braking system
  • Chassis and underbody condition
  • Exhaust system
  • Visible signs of repair or corrosion

The inspection does not replace a manufacturer’s technical certification or a complete mechanical overhaul.
