OBD Diagnostics

Where equipment and vehicle access permit, OBD diagnostics may be used to check available electronic fault codes and vehicle system information.

The report may record:

  • Available fault codes
  • Warning indicators
  • Diagnostic results
  • System information supported by the vehicle
  • Inspection date and testing conditions

Diagnostic coverage may vary according to the vehicle brand, model, software and available equipment.

VIN and Mileage Verification

The inspection may record and compare:

  • VIN or chassis number
  • Vehicle identification information
  • Odometer reading
  • Production information where available
  • Vehicle documents
  • Stock or order reference

Mileage and vehicle history findings are reported according to the available records and inspection evidence. A PSI report should not be interpreted as a guarantee of complete accident-free history unless supported by separate verifiable records.

EV Battery and SOH Inspection

For electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, an optional battery inspection may include:

  • Battery State of Health (SOH), where available
  • Battery fault information
  • Charging status
  • Charging port and charging cable
  • High-voltage system warning indicators
  • Displayed driving range
  • Battery-related documents

The report should identify the test method, test date and data source. Battery results may vary according to the vehicle software, testing equipment, temperature and battery condition.

Accident, Flood and Fire Damage Identification

The inspection may look for visible or detectable signs of:

  • Structural repair
  • Panel replacement
  • Repainted areas
  • Irregular welding
  • Water or flood exposure
  • Fire or heat damage
  • Corrosion
  • Significant repair marks

These checks are based on the vehicle’s visible condition and available inspection evidence. They are not a replacement for government, insurance or manufacturer history records.
